[app] Skype 2.0 for Android

The latest version of Skype is finally out for Android!


"Don’t just say ‘Hello’ – give someone a wave on video over Wi-Fi or 3G on Android phones."



You can now make video calls to anyone who is on Skype whether they are on a PC, iPhone or a Mac.
The list of improvements also includes a refreshed and better looking user interface and the option to send SMS messages via Skype.
Chat for as long as you want to a friend or the whole gang. Instant messaging on Skype lets you catch up with everyone all at the same time – wherever and whenever you want.

Requirements


  • Android 2.1 operating system and above
  • Video calling supported on the following handsets: Samsung Google Nexus S, HTC Desire S, Sony Ericsson Xperia neo, Sony Ericsson Xperia pro
Skype for Android supports:
  • Instant messaging (IM)
  • Group IM
  • Skype-to-Skype calling
  • Skype video calling*
  • Calling phones and mobiles
  • Receiving Skype calls and calls to Online Numbers
  • Participating in conference calls
  • Synchronizing with Android phone book
  • Importing from native phonebook
  • Call forwarding
  • Showing favorite contacts
  • Contact list filtering via groups
* Only on select Android phones.

The following features are not currently supported:
  • Voicemail
  • Skype SMS
  • File transfer

  1. better than MSN which used to get all eggy and give me grief about sending ZIP and files to friends/family/strangers (mostly strangers tbh). Dont think it would even let me send an EXE at all. Dont seem to have this problem with Sköep... not actually tried sending any of these files tho.

    my uncle's got an Android phone so that bit is relevant to me too
